    About Me:

I am a MTF transsexual (Victoria's Journey), but that is just who I am - it's not a big deal, as I go about my day. I'm totally "out" and love who I am, as a transgender female and as a woman. I'm scheduled for sex reassignment surgery near the end of June, which will complete that part of my "journey." I'm tall, blonde (brown eyes), feminine, slender / fit / toned. I take pride in my appearance and presentation (without being vain), don't swear, and I try to be sensitive and kind to others, around me.

I am accomplished, ambitious, adventurous, out-going, intelligent, fun-loving, social, loyal, easy-going, non-pretentious (I'm very down-to-earth), and generally well-liked and respected. I am self-employed as a scientific consultant. I am healthy and very fit; a non-drinker; a non-smoker; and do not use recreational drugs.

While I am a home-body, I love being around people: socializing, and meeting and befriending friendly, cheerful, interesting, kind-hearted, positive people.

I love most forms of music - rock, jazz, dance, blues, ... and play guitar (quite well), and (much less well: I'm so out of practice) the tenor saxophone.

I live in Vancouver (near the Vancouver General Hospital). I was previously in a 24 year relationship / 21-year marriage, that ended in May 2009 (I'm since divorced). I have many happy memories from that relationship, but have moved on with my life, and after a rather prolonged period of being single, I recently entered into a new relationship (January 2012) with someone special (female) :-)

    My friends describe me as:

Friendly, cheerful ("always smiling"), social, fun-loving, out-going, gentle, personable, elegant, intelligent, courageous, interesting, kind, compassionate, passionate, independent, loyal, inspiring, interesting.

My idea of a fun date is:

Relaxed and easy conversation; a coffee & people-watching; dinner; live entertainment; dancing; a leisurely walk; perhaps, shopping!

    I like to talk about:

Virtually anything - I have many interests and much life experience. I've lived in Nova Scotia (born / raised there), British Columbia, and North Carolina, and I've driven across North America three times. I've also been to Japan, and spent time in Mexico, including Baja California and the Sea of Cortez. I appreciate different cultures, and I am interested in current events, music, fashion & beauty ...

    My hobbies and interests include:

Exercise (daily); cooking; music (all types); travel; hanging out, socializing; coffee; dining; walks; shopping; making new friends; conversation; movies.

I have an acoustic guitar that I've owned for 30+ years, a tenor sax (a Selmer Mark VII), and a digital electronic piano (full keyboard with weighted keys). Unfortunately, I don't play the piano (a legacy from my marriage; I will learn to play it one day, though!), and being an apartment-dweller, I haven't played my sax in some years - I also really need to change that!). However, I play my guitar semi-regularly, and I am a fairly accomplished guitarist (including some finger-style)!

I tend to watch my diet and eat very healthy meals - no junk food, and limited prepared meals. I enjoy cooking and baking, and I've learned to become a fairly decent cook. I bake my own bread from scratch - Challah, and multigrain, especially - and lately, I've begun making muffins, to accompany my breakfasts (e.g. an antioxidant berry blend muffin; molasses raisin bran; ...). I also love home-made cinnamon rolls, but have been shying away from those (calories!). :-)

    For entertainment, I Love:

lol, see all of the above! I love hanging out, socializing, meeting new people, coffee, people-watching, dining out, shopping, movies ... As mentioned, I am a non-smoker, and - for all intents and purposes - a non-drinker).

    Music:

I love virtually all forms of music - rock & pop, jazz, disco, folk, reggae, Celtic / Irish / Newfoundland, blues, country, beat / house / dance / electronic / trance, African rhythms, Latin, classical, opera ...

I play the guitar (quite well), and (much less well: I'm *so* out of practice) the tenor saxophone, which I adore. As I mentioned, I have a wonderful piano, that I need to learn to play!

    Films:

I have an exhaustive list on my "Favorites" page. I love all type of movies, but nothing too-depressing, as many movies today seem to be (e.g.: Winter's Bone is a recently, popular well-done movie, but so depressing...).

I'm also fond of comedies, romance, drama, documentaries, some musicals, and almost anything with a GLBT theme - if well-done.

    Television:

lol ... Currently: Survivor, America's Next Top Model, American Idol, Deadliest Catch, Blue Bloods, the new Hawaii Five-O series, Chicago Code, Stargate Universe, (HBO's) Game of Thrones, ...

When broadcast: Project Runway; Project Runway Canada; Boardwalk Empire.

I also enjoy watching the news, documentaries [FRONTLINE; 60 Minutes; (CBC's) The Nature of Things, and The Passionate Eye ...], nature / science / technology [(PBS') NOVA; (BBC's) Horizon; National Geographic; (PBS') Nature); ...], history, drama, and lots of other shows.

    Books:

I love literature and books, but don't get a chance to read many books, I'm afraid. I'm not a big library user (I do have a Vancouver Public Library card), and books cost a fortune, even used (purchased online). I know, it's not much of an excuse, but I get most of my information online and I'm pretty busy, with other interests, that occupy much of my free time. Nevertheless, though infrequent, I really do enjoy curling up with a coffee and a good book.

    Heroes / People I Admire:

Terry Fox; Mahatma Gandhi; Harvey Milk; Erin Brockovich; women's rights pioneers / activists (e.g. Aung San Suu Kyi); transgender / transsexual pioneers / activists (e.g. Phyllis Randolph Frye).

    Other Bits 'n Pieces:

lol ... Again, I happen to have just such a page - containing a plethora of such trivia and 'useless' - yet oddly informative minutiae - here.

    Hugs, Victoria ☺
